and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul; 12 Having your
conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they

may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation. 13 Submit
yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;”
(I Pet. 2:9-13).
Jesus said we are supposed to be the salt of the earth.
“Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they
the prophets which were before you. 13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his
savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to
be trodden under foot of men. 14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot
be hid,” (Matt. 5:12-14).
